Accessibility Statement

Kenilworth Town Council is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to www.kenilworth-tc.gov.uk and www.visit.kenilworthweb.co.uk.

The following features are intended to make the sites easy to use for all visitors:

Use the browser to change font size.

In Chrome, Internet Explorer or Firefox go to Tools/Settings and select the + sign to Zoom and increase font size.

Navigation

• Site Map – This lists all the pages in each category of the website.
• The search box appears on every page and allows you to search the whole site for specific information.
• Consistency – The navigation is consistent across the whole site to make finding information easier.

Plain English

We aim to use plain language and try to avoid unnecessary jargon and acronyms. Text in some documents, such as committee reports, may contain more complex or technical language.

Images

We provide a text alternative for all images on the website.

Opening and downloading Adobe Acrobat documents

Downloadable documents on the sites are in Portable Document Format (PDF). You can download the free Adobe Reader if required to open a PDF. Acrobat Reader now has improved accessibility features and includes the facility to read the text out loud. You can also download other free PDF readers.

Technical Information about this website’s accessibility

Compliance status

These websites have been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA.

These websites are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the known accessibility issues listed below.

Known Issues

• Our Visit Kenilworth website uses Advanced Classifieds and Directory Pro to manage the listings and generate the interactive maps. We are aware there are some issues with labels not being associated with category dropdowns in the directory search forms and with the input on the dropdown select not having any text content, which therefore does not comply with1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A) and 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A). We have reported this to the third party developer. We have assessed that making this element fully compliant would be a disproportionate burden at this time. Our assessment based on 2026 costs  indicates that the cost required to re-engineer this third party component would outweigh the benefit to the user, given that it is an ancillary feature to the main directory and map and does not hinder the ability to read critical information.

Content is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

• It is unlikely that maps used on the website are fully accessible with all assistive technologies. Maps are not currently within the scope of the regulations.

This statement was prepared on 11 March 2026.

The last review was carried out by a third party, Black Spiral, in March 2026.

Kenilworth Town Council continually self-evaluate our websites and make use of the WAVE.WebAim tool.
