The cold weather can lead to serious health issues which can be dangerous. Older people, people with chronic illnesses and people who have a disability are more at risk of getting ill during the colder months. Cold and flu viruses are also more prevalent at this time of year.

Warwickshire County Council is urging residents to take care of themselves by following advice and encouraging them to check in on friends, family and neighbours who may be particularly vulnerable to the cold.

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is coming to Warwickshire this summer, with the Road Race taking place in Warwick and the Lawn Bowls and Para Lawn Bowls taking place in Victoria Park in Royal Leamington Spa. The Games have recently launched a search to find volunteers for the Games itself and 2,022 Baton bearers for the Queen’s Baton Relay, which takes place in the immediate run-up to the Games.

Warwickshire County Council to implement new on-street parking enforcement in North Warwickshire

Following approval by the Department for Transport the county council will undertake enforcement under the Traffic Management Act, bringing North Warwickshire Borough into line with the rest of the county. Civil Enforcement Officers will be patrolling the towns in North Warwickshire providing clear and fair enforcement of on-street parking.

‘Covid has not gone away’ warn Coventry and Warwickshire NHS bosses

There are currently almost 500 people in Coventry and Warwickshire hospitals with COVID-19. This picture is reflected across the region, with hospitals reporting a steep increase in admissions because of COVID-19. Although numbers in Intensive Care Units (ICU) remain stable, around 70% of those patients in ICU with COVID are unvaccinated.

COVID-19 is still out there, still circulating and still, sadly, making many people very unwell. However, there are things you can do to protect yourself.

The application window for the second round of funding from the Councillors’ Grant Fund 2021/22 closes this Sunday 23 January 2020.

The Councillors’ Grant Fund provides each of Warwickshire County Council’s 57 Councillors with an allocated fund of £6,000 to support small-scale projects within their division that can demonstrate support to keep communities and individuals safe, healthy and independent or support a vibrant economy.

The Mental Health Curriculum in Education Settings Grant will support education settings, from the early years to further education, to help children and young people build resilience and improve their overall sense of positive wellbeing.

The A46 is a road link between the East and West Midlands, connecting Coventry and Warwickshire to the motorway network.

Traffic congestion has led to slower speeds, increased journey times and more queuing for drivers. By upgrading the A46, National Highways hope to reduce congestion, speed up journey times and support economic growth across the West Midlands.

West Midlands Gigafactory gets green light

Warwick District Council and Coventry City Council have resolved to approve outline plans for a Gigafactory which will result in £2.5bn investment, creating up to 6,000 new highly skilled jobs directly alongside thousands more in the wider supply chain in Coventry, Warwickshire and the surrounding region.
