Choirs at the Castle

To celebrate the Coronation of the new King, three local Kenilworth primary schools, Crackley Hall, Priorsfield and St. John’s together with community choir Pop Voices, will be performing at Kenilworth Castle on Sunday 7 May at 11am. Organised by the Kenilworth Town Council’s Coronation Committee in collaboration with English Heritage, over 130 children and more than a hundred community singers will take part in the event.

Town Clerk, Maggie Field said “This event is a unique way for the people of Kenilworth to celebrate this momentous moment in British history, and what could be a more finer venue than Kenilworth Castle with it long association with the British royal family”.

Helen Lloyd, choir leader of Priorsfield school said, “The children are very excited to be taking part in this historic event. For them, like most of us, it is the first time a coronation has taken place. The children have been busy rehearsing the songs over the last few weeks and are looking forward to performing in front of an audience, with the spectacular Kenilworth Castle as a background. It will be an event to remember for the rest of their lives!”

Matt Bulford of English Heritage added: “We are delighted to host celebrations for the Coronation weekend at Kenilworth Castle, a castle with Royal associations for much of its 900 year history. We are pleased to be working with Kenilworth Town Council, Pop Voices and the local primary schools of Crackley Hall, Priorsfield and St John’s for this special event which promises to be a real spectacle.”
