Warwickshire County Council is part of the Love to Ride family of partner organisations that give residents, businesses and community groups access to the best rewards and resources to encourage cycling for travel, not just leisure.

Cycle September is Love to Ride’s global bike riding event, bringing together riders of every level to promote the benefits of cycling.

Giving Warwickshire’s natural world helping hands to recover

It’s great news for everyone as Warwickshire County Council is awarded the role of helping the county’s natural world to recover.

To further drive the recovery of nature in the UK, Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) are a new government policy that was included in the Environment Act (2021).

As a part of this policy, government selected 48 responsible authorities across the UK to manage these in their local area with support from the Districts and Boroughs. Warwickshire County Council is the responsible authority for Warwickshire LNRS and will receive a share of a £14million funding pot, enabling it to work with local communities to develop a tailored nature recovery strategy for Warwickshire.

There’s still time for children to get involved in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge

A popular activity in the library calendar, the Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to borrow and read six books, which can include eBook and eAudio formats, during the summer holidays.

Warwickshire County Council is sharing resources to help young people create positive mental health habits from an early age.

Everyone experiences ups and downs in their mental health so learning how to take steps to protect it can help young peopler to deal with stressful times. Mental health can be affected by things happening in life or sometimes people can feel low for no particular reason.

As exams results come in and new school terms are about to start, young people may be feeling nervous, anxious, excited or unsure about their next stage. These are all very normal feelings, and learning how to manage and cope with them is important.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability takes centre stage at Maxstoke Village Hall

Maxstoke Village Hall, near Coleshill in North Warwickshire, has been awarded £3,435 in funding to pay for a range of infrastructure improvements, including the replacement of all old fittings and the installation of energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly hot water, lighting and space heating systems.

New animation shows residents the benefits of becoming a childminder

With up to £1200 available in grants, a new animation has been released by Warwickshire County Council to advise and support any residents to become childminders.

With more people returning to physical workplaces on a more regular basis, the need for quality childminding has increased with more opportunities than ever to combine a rewarding career with the flexibility to manage family life.

Childminding is a rewarding and flexible career, which allows people to work from home as their own boss while providing essential high-quality care and education for younger children.

Work is set to begin on Phase 2 of new cycle route in Leamington Spa

Great news for cyclists in Kenilworth and Leamington as Warwickshire County Council’s flagship cycle route is poised to take an important new step forward.

The second phase of construction of a new cycle route on the Kenilworth Road in Leamington Spa is due to start on Monday 4 September.

The Wellbeing for Life festival will take over Broadgate on Saturday 16 September

The Wellbeing for Life Festival returns for a fourth year and will take place on Saturday 16 September between 10am and 4pm in Broadgate, Coventry.

The event is being organised in conjunction with Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and the Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Partnership Trust. The festival will feature over 30 stands from these statutory services and voluntary and community (VCSE) organisations who offer health and wellbeing support.

Warwickshire County Council return a regular bus service to a rural community

The pilot of an on-demand minibus service in Warwick District has proved popular with residents, and high take up has resulted in the scheme being extended by Warwickshire County Council.

The Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT) minibus service, called IndieGo PLUS, was introduced to the village of Norton Lindsey as a pilot in May 2023. The village was previously only served by one bus each week which took passengers to Solihull and back.

The new IndieGo PLUS service allows residents to book journeys to and from over 250 locations including Warwick Town, both Warwick Parkway and Town Stations, the bus station, Warwick Hospital, and a wide range of shopping and leisure spots.

The survey will gather information about what you see as the important issues surrounding having your baby, during pregnancy, childbirth and afterwards. Open until the 13th October 2023, your views will help to shape the maternity and neonatal plan for the next 3-5 years.

The survey is led by Coventry and Warwickshire local maternity and neonatal system in conjunction with service user partnership group, Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships.
