Three Together with Autism conferences will be held during 2024 to support families across Coventry and Warwickshire, and anyone who wants to better understand autism and find out about local support available.

The first conference is taking place on Saturday 14 September at Meadow Park School in Coventry.

These events are open to professionals, family members of autistic children, and autistic adults, however, anyone can attend the conference for inspiring talks, workshops and to meet with your local service representatives.

Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank – Meon Vale Open House

Come along and meet the team and enjoy free refreshments and cake on Tuesday 13 August between 10-12 for their Open House morning at Meon Vale Village Hall.

There will be games, balloons and treat bags for the children too.

World Breastfeeding Week is an annual awareness campaign running from 1 – 7 August. The theme for 2024 is Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all.

The aim of the awareness week is to celebrate breastfeeding mothers and parents in all their diversity, throughout their breastfeeding journeys, while showcasing the ways families, societies, communities and health workers can support of every breastfeeding family.

The Household Support Fund provides support with energy debts and assistance to repair or replace broken boilers and heating systems.

If you live in Warwickshire, have a combined gross household income of no more than £31,000 per year, have no savings and have someone living with a vulnerability you may be eligible.

Summer reading challenge events:
Warwickshire libraries are hosting free weekly Marvellous Maker themed activities throughout the summer, including interactive ‘Myths and Masks’ storytelling sessions with Pyn Stockman, and more music and craft activities. Visit the Eventbrite page and book the activities.

Poetry workshops for young people:
Are you aged 13-17 years old and interested in poetry? Then join ex- Coventry Poet Laureate Emilie Lauren Jones at Kenilworth or Nuneaton Library for a two hour poetry workshop! Emilie will guide you through the process of writing your very own poem and help to improve your poetry. Design a bookmark competition:
Are you a budding artist? Would you like to see your artwork turned into a bookmark? Then look no further! This summer, Warwickshire Libraries are running a competition to design a bookmark! The winning bookmarks will then be printed and given out across all our County Council Libraries in Warwickshire. Find out more here.

With the summer holidays here and children set to spend more time at home, Warwickshire County Council is urging parents and carers to be aware of the safety risks posed to youngsters online.

Many children will be using laptops, tablets and smartphones to entertain themselves during the long break from school, including spending time on the internet. With this increased screen time, it’s important to protect young people from the potential risks associated with digital platforms and to support their mental health.

Soon every parent with school-age children will be facing the prospect of buying new, or replacement, school uniform, making ‘travel to school’ arrangements, preparing to provide school meals, and looking into other ‘school costs’.

Citizens Advice believe support for households on low incomes with these costs is not easily available and believe more should be done to help these families.

The survey is aimed at any parents of a school-age child last year who will also be a parent of a school-age child this year.
