Following recent decisions made by Warwickshire County and District Councils, Kenilworth Town Council last night (1-8-19) also resolved to declare a Climate Emergency. It will establish with immediate effect a cross-party Environmental Working Group tasked with producing, within the next six months, a detailed roadmap that will help to encourage and enable public and community-led carbon reduction schemes within Kenilworth.
Leader of the Council, Cllr John Dearing, said: ”This is a very welcome and exciting initiative for the town. It underlines the urgency by which we all have to reduce our carbon footprints as the country moves towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The Working Group looks forward to engaging with residents, businesses, schools and community groups as it explores how best we can move towards this goal.
