In summer 2022 Members approved the spend of up to £5,000 from CIL reserves to fund the development of a plan for the renewal of the skatepark at Castle Farm.

Funding of a new skatepark will be a significant expense and so it is important that the Council understand what’s possible and the potential costs prior to proceeding. It is also important to involve users to help inform the design and improve the current experience, as they are the people with the knowledge.

Improvement of the skatepark meets two of the priorities identified in the Town Survey – improving facilities for young people and improving our leisure offering.

The Town Council obtained two quotes to include:

• Engagement with users via zoom to capture their ideas and requirements
• Basic dimension and in-situ plans
• 3D visualisations
• Budget estimate

The construction phase of any project would be subject to a separate funding request and procurement process.
