KTC thanks Members of the Public for the ‘overwhelming’ number of survey responses

Members of Kenilworth Town Council wish to offer a heartfelt thanks to the overwhelming number of Members of the Public who responded to our recent Castle Crossing survey.

Kenilworth Town Council is working with English Heritage (EH) and Warwickshire County Council (WCC) to identify a possible location(s) for a pedestrian crossing or crossings on the A429 Castle Road to improve the route for pedestrians between the Town Centre, Abbey Fields and the Castle. Each has advantages and disadvantages which have been being explored, particularly in terms of deliverability.

Following feasibility work with EH and WCC in late October 2024, three potential locations were identified:

A – at Castle Green near the hard standing area next to the Northgate of the Castle;

B – south of the Ford (access with a possible continuation to the Castle grounds through the snicket gate);

C – at or around the present vehicular entrance to the Brays Car Park at Castle Road.

Following the feasibility work above, Kenilworth Town Council ran a public survey to seek views from residents and visitors to Kenilworth about i) the desirability of a crossing in principle and ii) which location or locations were preferred. This ran for 4 weeks from 23 December 2024 to 27 January 2025, was available both online and as paper copies, and was promoted on social media/Nub News and at a Town Council event in December.

We received an amazing 433 online responses and 9 paper copies, 442 responses overall. This is one of the largest responses to a survey conducted by the Town Council, demonstrating the level of public interest.
