South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP)
Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Warwick District Council are working together to produce a new South Warwickshire Local Plan to cover the combined geographic area. The Plan is expected to replace the strategic policies of the existing Stratford-on-Avon Core Strategy and Warwick Local Plan which are soon due for review. The South Warwickshire Local Plan will set out a long-term spatial strategy for housing, jobs, infrastructure and climate change for both Districts.

The Town Council understand that residents may take a keen interest in the development of the plan, and we therefore aim to publish as many updates to this page as we can along with all pertinent information received from Warwick District Council.

Regulation 19
The Regulation 19 consultation version of the South Warwickshire Local Plan has now been published as part of the agenda papers for WDC and SDC Joint Committee on Tuesday 14th July 2026. Subject to approval at both Council’s on 15th July, consultation on the Regulation 19 Publication version of the SWLP will commence on Tuesday 21st July.
The papers can be viewed on the Stratford-on-Avon District Council and the Warwick District Council websites.
The Town Council submitted a response dated 13 July 2026 to the draft consultation version published. A copy of this and the associated slide presentation can be found below.
