A Warwickshire special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) conference brought together stakeholders from across the county last week to contribute to shaping a new Warwickshire strategy for children and young people with SEND.

New volunteer opportunity to empower local communities in making affordable, healthy, and sustainable food choices

Residents who are passionate about helping others are invited to get involved in a new volunteering opportunity to become Food Champions across Warwickshire.

As a Food Champion volunteer, individuals will get to work with local groups and communities to equip people with the right knowledge about how to eat more healthily, in a way that is affordable, and that contributes to the environment in more sustainable ways.

The work of the volunteers will also support key priorities outlined in the Warwickshire Food Strategy 2023-2026, which has been developed by the Warwickshire Food Forum to ensure there is a supply of good quality, healthy, and affordable food available for everyone across the County.

Foster for Warwickshire to keep brothers and sisters together

Warwickshire County Council is looking for people to provide loving homes for children who can’t live with their own families.

In particular, it wants to hear from couples and individuals interested in fostering who have space to look after sibling groups.

To help people understand more about becoming a foster carer, and to hear from a Warwickshire carer with experience of fostering siblings, an online Teams event is taking place on Tuesday 17th October at 7.30pm for anyone who wants to find out more.

Selfish fire service equipment thieves are putting lives at risk

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued a call for residents around its Wellesbourne fire station to report any suspicious activity that they witnessed on the night of Sunday 8 October to the police.

The plea follows at burglary at Wellesbourne fire station in which criminals forced their way in and targeted the services most up-to-date lifesaving rescue equipment, provided at significant expense to the taxpayer, putting lives at risk in doing so.

Any resident that sees anything suspicious at a fire station is asked to report this to Warwickshire Police by calling 999.
