Cabinet approves new Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service operating model

Following a review of how WFRS use their resources, a public consultation took place earlier this year on a proposed delivery model that would help the service to better align their resources to the risks and demands across all parts of Warwickshire. The feedback from the 1,300 responses that were received has been used to shape a revised model known as Model A.

The Cabinet decision includes authorising Warwickshire to join the new West Midlands Regional Fostering Framework, led by Coventry City Council, and to expand Short-Term Emergency Placements (STEPS) and extend Bail and Remand Intensive Care placements (BRICS) through new contracts.

The latest promotion follows a 70% increase in customers using the service throughout the summer holidays last year.

From Saturday 20 July to Sunday 1 September 2024, Warwickshire County Council is providing free parking and free bus travel at Stratford Park and Ride to ensure that everyone – from dog owners and couples to families and tourist groups – can make the most of this easy and relaxing journey into Stratford-upon-Avon town centre.

The LA NCIS is a pioneering approach to protecting and enhancing the environment across the sub-region. It outlines a framework for utilising income generated through developer contributions, or environmental markets and nature-based compensation schemes, such as Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).

It also offers a strategic framework for investment to best tackle issues such as flood risk, air and water quality or carbon reduction, or to produce the greatest gains for local biodiversity.

Children invited to get involved in ‘Marvellous Makers’ Summer Reading Challenge at Warwickshire Libraries

A popular annual activity in the library calendar, the Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to borrow and read six books of their choice, which can include eBook and eAudio formats, over the course of the summer holidays.

To get involved, children can sign up now through their local library to receive a collector’s poster and track their progress towards their chosen reading goal. All children who successfully complete the challenge are presented with a certificate and medal.

Addiction support across Warwickshire set to improve following Cabinet decision

At the Cabinet meeting on Thursday 16 July, it was decided to recommission the Council’s drug and alcohol services which are currently available to residents across Warwickshire.

Bus service improvements are coming to Warwickshire
