Local elections are taking place today

To mark this momentous occasion, residents across Warwickshire are being invited to get involved in a weekend of celebrations from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 May 2023.

The special award has been given to 500 individuals across the country in the Coronation year to those who have stepped forward and made significant contributions to their local communities.

Digital Hublet tablets are available at Leamington, Nuneaton, and Rugby libraries, and allow users to enjoy eMagazines, eNewspapers, eBooks, and other online eResources without the need to have or bring their own digital devices.

The libraries team are looking for enthusiastic individuals across the county to assist with the annual Summer Reading Challenge, the UK’s biggest free reading for pleasure programme for children.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) is issuing a warning to the public about the dangers of charging electronic devices on beds, following a recent house fire that started in a young girl’s bedroom due to an overheated charger.

Interactive Futures – Gateway into Games is a free one-day event taking place on Saturday 13 May at the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa. The day will be dedicated to inspiring the next generation to take a closer look at the multiple career opportunities and pathways the video games sector has to offer, with representatives from the ‘Silicon Spa’ cluster of studios including Lab42, Lively – a Keyword Studio, SEGA HARDlight, Sumo Leamington, Third Kind Games and Ubisoft Leamington all taking part.

Warwickshire recycling centres are open over the King’s Coronation weekend

All nine Warwickshire recycling centres will be open for much of Coronation Day – Saturday 6^th May 2023, however, the sites will be closed to visits from 10:45am to 12:45pm to allow operational staff to witness the historic occasion live, alongside the rest of the nation.
