Warwick District Council is pleased to announce that the ownership of our former HQ at Riverside House and the surrounding land will be transferred to Homes England on 1 April 2025.
The new owners will now progress their plans for the development of up to 74 new homes on the Milverton Hill site, having received outline planning permission from the Council in February.
Our Council is once again taking part in No Mow May, an nationwide initiative which provides a much needed boost for dwindling insects and pollinators.
Following feedback from previous years grass cutting will only be suspended in selected areas (grass verges, public parks and green spaces) based on their location, size, use and potential benefit to plants and wildlife.
A day of celebrations is to be held to mark the official opening of the Lillington Health Hub.
The partners behind the project are hosting a special open day on Saturday 10 May, to give members of the local community the opportunity to meet the teams and find out more about the extensive range of services and activities available.
There will also be free food & drink, art and nature activities and specialist talks.
Both the men’s and women’s public toilets throughout the district will be fitted with sanitary bins, thanks to a Councillor led campaign.
This is in response to the recommendations of the Prostate Cancer UK ‘Boys NEED Bins’ action group to make the public sector and businesses aware of the need to provide men with the appropriate facilities to dispose of waste products, in a discreet and hygienic manner.
On 20 March Full Council agreed to support Warwick District Council’s interim plan for local government reorganisation in Warwickshire. The interim plan also has the approval of Warwickshire’s five other district and borough Councils.
Two possible options are being considered:
A single unitary council for Warwickshire
Two unitary Councils (one for North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth and Rugby Boroughs; another for Warwick and Stratford Districts).
Community inspired by first nature patchwork event
A free community event was held on Saturday 8 March at The SYDNI Centre in Leamington, empowering and inspiring the community to help wildlife thrive locally.
Leamington’s Nature Patchwork is a new initiative between Warwick District Council, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) and several community partners, designed to inspire and connect people to help nature by creating wildlife habitats in their gardens and community spaces.

This scheme will close on 28 March 2025 or sooner if the funding is allocated before this date.

Local residents should be aware that there will be a full closure of the A46 between Coventry and the Leamington/Kenilworth junction from 8pm on Friday 11 April until Thursday 1 May at 6am.
A fully signposted diversion route will be in place as well as special access arrangements for the villages of Stoneleigh and Ashow.

We’re pleased to launch a thermal imaging camera loan scheme, to help local residents understand the energy efficiency of their home.
The Council has recently provided imaging cameras to nine local community groups including parish and town councils, which are now ready to go out on loan.
Don’t forget to apply for your new garden waste permit to cover collections from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 (with a two week break over Christmas and New Year).
