Welcome to the Family Information Service Newsletter!
In this weeks Family Information Service newsletter we’re delighted to announce that Warwickshire’s Children Services have been rated Good in an Ofsted report published today (find out more below). There is also information on careers in social work, for anyone wanting to make a difference to the lives of children and families, emotional support services and much more.

We’re delighted to be judged as good in all areas for our children’s services according to a recent Ofsted inspection.

Since the last inspection in 2017, and throughout the global pandemic, we have continued to focus on long-term improvements to better support some of our most vulnerable children and families in Warwickshire, and we’re so pleased that Ofsted has recognised this.

Social work charity, Frontline, has launched a new short film, voiced by rapper and songwriter Professor Green, to challenge the common misconceptions people might have about social work and to highlight the power that social work has.

What’s new?

Parents in Mind

Parents in Mind offers emotional support for women who are experiencing low mood, anxiety or poor mental health during pregnancy or within the first two years of birth.

Many mums find it difficult to open up about how they are feeling and continue to suffer in silence. Parents in Mind aims to improve women’s emotional wellbeing and to reduce isolation within the community, by providing a safe space to talk and good quality support from a trained volunteer.

Managing Money Wisely

Warwickshire Adult & Community Learning is running a Managing Money Wisely course to help people improve their budgeting and saving skills.

Compass Newsletter

Compass is a charity providing health and wellbeing services for children, young people, adults, families and communities. In the February edition of Compass Family health & wellbeing newsletter, the focus is on acts of kindness, Time to Talk day and Safer Internet day.

SpeakOut

Most families need some support from time to time. SpeakOut wants to hear from young people and parents and carers from Black, Asian and minority ethnic families on how easy it is to find the help you need, if the help is right for you, and how things could be made better. Every family should be able to get the support they need, when they need it, no matter their background.

SpeakOut want to hear your ideas about what would make the support available to you better. You can share your story anonymously through a survey as video, audio or text responses, in any language.

Make a difference to the lives of children and young people

Warwickshire County Council is looking to all members of the community to ask them what they can do to help make the county the best place for children and young people to grow up and learn.

The council is looking to businesses, organisations and individuals for ideas, no matter how small, which will nurture the next generation.

This will be key to the success of Child Friendly Warwickshire, an exciting programme bringing the county together in a collective mission to create opportunities and lasting and positive change for young people. It will ensure their voices are heard, that they are safe, happy and healthy and equipped with the skills to lead the best lives they can.
