Positive Family Connections – Take Part

Cerebra and University of Warwick are inviting family carers of a child with a learning disability, autism, or both aged 8-13 years to take part in a study of a new online programme, Positive Family Connections.

The programme aims to enhance family relationships and wellbeing in families of a child with a developmental disability. Positive Family Connections is funded by Cerebra and has been co-produced by family carers and researchers at the University of Warwick.

The programme involves six online sessions facilitated by two trained family carers with groups of adults from 6-8 families. From each family, one or two adults can take part in Positive Family Connections. The sessions involve group discussion and activities to equip participants with new knowledge and skills to apply in their relationships and build friendships with other families.

Warwickshire County Council urges young carers to access support in honour of Young Carers Action Day 2022

To recognise Young Carers Action Day 2022 (16 March 2022), Warwickshire County Council and its partners are keen to highlight the support available to young and young adult carers throughout the county.

Isolation is the theme for this year’s campaign, something all vulnerable groups, including carers, will have experienced during the pandemic. Those who have a caring responsibility are seven times more likely to feel lonely or isolated than the general public. Warwickshire County Council and partners want to reassure young carers that help and support is available to anyone struggling with their mental health and any feelings of loneliness.

We’re pleased to announce that speech, reading and translation support has been added to the Local Offer website with ReachDeck. ReachDeck is a tool from Texthelp. It helps to make the online content more available to everyone. The ReachDeck Toolbar offers visitors assistive features. Giving them a choice in how they access the online information. Recognising the fantastic work of Warwickshire’s social care staff on Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection

A special day dedicated to those working in social care takes place this Thursday (17^th March) and Warwickshire families are being encouraged to take part as Warwickshire County Council highlights the fantastic work of social care staff.

Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection is being co-ordinated nationally by Skills for Care in collaboration with partners from across the social care sector, and is being supported by The Warwickshire Registered Managers Network which includes Warwickshire County Council, and Coventry City Council.

The day will give families a space to remember the people working in social care we have sadly lost during pandemic and offer much needed time to recognise the vital work that social care staff have done to keep people safe and well.

Families in Warwickshire are being encouraged to take part in Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection by displaying a poster of the county flower, the honeysuckle, and dedicating it either to someone working in social care that has sadly been lost or to somebody that has made and continues to make huge sacrifices to provide high quality care to people.

Warwickshire County Council will be supporting Skills for Care and The Care Workers’ Charity on Thursday by publishing links on their social media accounts to an online Memorial Wall and Tribute Wall where the Care Workers’ Charity will be gathering people’s stories and tributes that show the commitment and sacrifices the social care workforce has made.
