James has lived in Kenilworth for over ten years, having previously worked overseas for the British Council managing education development projects in South-East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, Russia and Central Asia. He is married to Kit with four grown-up children.

When James came to work at the University of Warwick he and Kit chose to live in Kenilworth because of the friendly people, the green spaces and the excellent cycle route to work. Since retiring in 2017 he has volunteered for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust working on Parliament Piece and Knowle Hill every Tuesday in winter. He maintains his international interests through advisory work for the University of Yangon in Myanmar, and in October 2019 with Kit visited Kenilworth’s partner town Uyogo in Tanzania to support the work of the Kenilworth Uyogo Friendship Link.

On the Town Council he is leading on the implementation of the HS2-funded ‘Kenilworth is Open for Business’ project which aims to support local business during the disruption caused by the construction of HS2, and is working with residents on a new initiative to increase biodiversity in our town.

James is a compulsive litter-picker and tries to keep fit running on the Greenway.

James has been re-elected to the Town Council having previously served since 2 May 2019.
