At the Mayor’s Reception “Clean and Green Kenilworth” on 25th September a large number of suggestions for the celebration and improvement of Finham Brook were collected from participants.  These were followed up by more links and ideas through subsequent emails.

These proposals present some exciting opportunities for residents across the town to work with town council members to enhance this much-loved feature of our town. A Working Group was therefore formed on 23 October 2025 to take forward these ideas and opportunities.

Some of the key points being considered are:

  1. Create a walking trail along the brook – similar to our existing town trails.
  2. Put Signs on the bridges naming the Brook.
  3. Research and write the book of the brook for adults and children
  4. Apply QR codes on signs and trail guides with links to stories / wildlife interpretation
  5. School / citizen science project on water quality
  6. Explore how to reduce harm from flea medicine applications for dogs
  7. Restrict access to the Brook in Abbey Fields except for specified spots
  8. Develop a Himalayan balsam strategy for the full length of the Brook
  9. Explore creating a charter for the Brook
  10. Make the Brook beaver ready.
