About Peter Jones
Electoral Ward: Dalehouse
Political Party: Green Party
Election date: 4 May, 2023
Peter Jones was brought up near Bristol and moved to Kenilworth in 1977, living in the same house ever since. He considers himself to be a lucky and rich man. Lucky because, thanks to the NHS and its dedicated staff at Warwick and Coventry Hospitals, he has been expensively and successfully treated for acute appendicitis, arthritic hips, a leaking aortic valve, a ruptured achilles tendon and in 2023, a fractured metatarsal. Also fortunate because he has benefitted hugely at these times from the care and attention of his spouse, Jenny, whose efforts have allowed him to recover rapidly and to continue his work for the Green Party and the Town Council.
He is rich in the things that matter, rather than the more obvious signs of wealth sought by others. He has many kindly and steadfast friends, who tolerate his views, keep his feet on the ground and help him when problems arise. He has around him a loving family, both in Britain and in New Zealand, where he is venerated as a grandfather ( when not being beaten up by small children) and annual source of Greenpeace T-shirts. He still enjoys a fairly active life, cycling around the town and surrounding countryside, working his allotment and watching wildlife – especially birds, a lifelong interest. Indoors, he enjoys reading a good newspaper every day and detective and spy
stories. He also plays Bridge, at Kenilworth Bridge Club and online.
Peter continues as the Town Council link with the Edwards Educational Charity and with the Christmas Illuminations Committee, who help to finance our Christmas Lights. He was honoured to serve as Mayor in 2021/2 and he hopes to help make our town an even better place to live.
Peter has been re-elected to the Town Council having previously served since 2 May 2019.
